I have just gotten access to a lathe and milling machine and I would like to make a muzzle brake for a Mosin-Nagant. While I know the basic idea of how a muzzle brake works, I have no clue about port sizing, spacing or angles. Can anyone point me towards resources on design?

I'm not a gunsmith and not really a machinist, but this looks like a fun and useful project. Please don't preach to me about modifying one of my Mosin-Nagants.

I have made a few brakes and it is a neat project. I found the best design is an almost flat surface at the end. Experiment and enjoy what you build.
