Recently at my present job when I was on break at my desk I was surfing the net looking at gun related web pages. We are permitted to go on the internet and anything questionable is automatically blocked. Later that day I was called into our directors office along with my manager. I was told that I was observed pulling up web pages showing guns and that the company does not support that. It was suggested that I only do that on my phone and additionally I could into an empty office by myself to pull up the gun related web pages there. There was no threat to my employment or any disciplinary action taken. I politely said there would be no issues with this from me in the future.

I work for a large worldwide medical company that is based out of California but the office I am at is here in Texas. My office does have a Commiefornia feel to it but this whole anti gun thing that came up really shows it. My job duties are not bad, the people I work with are OK and the pay is pretty good so I am not going to search for another job over this but it's amusing how anti gun my office is. In the end though I get the last laugh because once anyone steps out of this Commiefornia office they walk into the free state of Texas!

Sounds like somebody cried to the manager, or the manager cried to the director.

Either way, they want to shut someone up and brush it away instead of telling the snowflake to get over it. At which the snowflake would probably claim a hostile work environment to the snowflake at the head of HR, which would lead to classes in how to be a proper snowflake in the modern workplace.

I remember years ago, probably 6-7 years, one of the foreman where I work was watching porn on his laptop. He got a call from the head of HR (female) telling him to quit being an idiot and watch it on his phone like everybody else, lol.

2 weeks ago a dumbass sent a group text to several guys in east Tx including a foreman. It was a picture of a “blind unicorn”. The dumbass somehow added the new head of HR to the group text. Stirred up a real shit storm. More funny because it’s only been a few weeks since we had to sit through EEOC training that covered all that crap. I thought it was hilarious and as long as they are that stupid it makes me look pretty good.

Yes and I am pretty sure I know who it was as he fits the snowflake profile and he often walks around and pokes his nose into what everyone is doing. I am not going to make anything of it with him or management. I am sure it's "tough" for him to deal with living here in Texas. He would be much more at home in Commiefornia.

You should casually invite him to the range some day.

I have the exact opposite. I work with 2 others in my office and we all bring our guns into work. We're all CHL holders and talk about guns multiple times per week. Hell, I even did a muddy-girl camo vinyl wrap on my wife's AR-15 here inside my office so my boss could see how it was done.

We need to generate a list of anti gun companies.

Even though I love my job, I’ve thought about taking advantage of the hot economy and seeing if there’s something better out there.

I’d hate to unknowingly take a job at a company that doesn’t allow CC and was anti 2nd Amendment.

That is very cool. Wish I had a work environment like that!

There is a no gun policy in our workplace manual, but no signage on our building or at our front desk.
This makes it legal for everyone else to come into our office with their guns, lol.

It’s legal for you as well, but would probably get you fired.

In this case, I'll take that at face value. However, that's not usually the way this stuff works.

The software that automatically blocks questionable content is usually very configurable. It's entirely possible for the system to allow pages through but still alert management that something not blocked but questionable has been viewed.

If it's a busybody, then you have my sympathies.

I would imagine you work for a Texas based company and not one from Commiefornia but I could be wrong on that.

No, your guess would be right. Also, my office has no windows, LOL.

Also, I'm taking "observed pulling up web sites on subject X" as "web nanny software blocked and alerted".
Good thing I'm also the network admin.

I work for a hugely anti-gun multi-national company. The only thing greater than their gun hatred is their aversion to spending money. Instead of putting up the proper signage at all their locations, they bought a 30.07 sign and photocopied it for all the other Texas locations. So in the Odessa yard, the 2 tone grey 30.07 sign is hung up at the visitors entrance behind tinted glass. I know it’s there and can’t read it from outside. They believe this will keep all the evil guns away. All of the gun folks who work there have discussed it and decided not to tell them the error of their ways, because they might fix it.

This is why while at work I do not use the computer for anything other than work related and my phone only on breaks or lunch.

The letters on the sign are probably not the proper size either.
