One of my grandsons(14) has been spending the week with us and was fishing at the river in front of the house....he comes strolling up with a fishing lure hanging out of his chin(ouch). The hook was up past the barb so the only way I knew to get it out was to push it through and cut the barb off. Grandma was having no part of that. She took him into town (425 people) to the EMS station and they sent her to Uvalde to minor emergency clinic where they did what I was going to. But they did use lanacaine.(sp).

He did well through it all, Actually thought it was kind of funny at times.

Been through that. I wore a lure to the ER.
Tried to get my fishing buddy to push it through and cut it off with dikes but it kept making him sick/ LOL.
Doc did same with no anesthetic. Put a bandaid on it and sent me on my way.

Glad you got some play area for the young ones.

Glad he's ok. I put one through my scalp once and a buddy hit me in the ear with a striper slab. Fortunately his knocked the heck outta me but didn't stick.

A friend was snagging Spoonbills below a dam in Oklahoma. They use huge treble hooks, very heavy sinkers and cast into the fast water. There were snaggers on each side of the river and a guy on the other side hit my friend in the middle of the forehead with an 8 ounce lead sinker. It knocked him cold and the only thing that saved his life was that he was a rock headed, stubborn SOB......at least that's what we told him!
