    I was visiting my dad in So. Cal. and he showed me my future inheritance. A Springfield 1903 w/ a custom stock that my grandfathered carved. Serial number puts it at a 1918 build.

    30-06. They were 30-03 prior to 1906. The 30-06 was created based on the 30-03, but they wanted a pointed tipped bullet. However, my info is based on wikipedia, so don't hold me to it...lol

    That is a fine piece. And if I were you I would start to work getting that now. My dad has a 30-30 Winchester 94 (I think) that he is going to pass down to me it is a "Lawman" edition with nickle and gold on the receiver. I was on the phone with him a week ago trying to get it as a wedding gift. Any way sorry for getting off topic, Excellent riffle. I'm envious.

    It's okay. My dad remembers my birthday, but only because January first is hard to forget. He Asks me how old I am every time he calls me on my birthday.
