Finally was able to get one. Wanted one of these for a long long time. SA July 1943 according to the reciever. To bad there is no way to tell the history behind it Oh well makes it a fun conversation piece.

Be sure to use the correct ammo or get one of the gas plugs that allow use of modern ammo.

One of my favorite rifles, for sure. For a 30-06, it's a smooth and easy to shoot gun that doesn't kick that much, IMO.

That law was enacted under a previous administration, bho had nothing to do with it. Don't worry, you are not the only person who likes to spread those unsubstantiated rumors, might as well as add the lie that the CMP was going to distribute them also.

I thought that law expired, came up for review, whatever and the Great O nixed it again?

If you get a little more detailed pictures a bit of the history could be pieced together. What is the barrel date? Any stock cartouches? Any import marks? If one is interested in taking the time serial numbers for all parts are recored to time and place of origin. With enough info from the rifle an educated guess is sometimes possible.

Don't ever shoot commercial .30-06 ammo in that relic.

Modern .30-06 ammo can wreck your operating rod.

Shoot only ammo loaded for the M1, or load your own.
