After reading through some reviews online I decided to buy a Center Point Optics 4-16x40 scope. It has an adjustable objective from 5 yards to infinity so my question is, where do I set it? The reason I'm confused is because the flip up cover slips onto the ring so if it's "adjustable" then the flipped up cap could be in the 9 o'clock position when open all the way over to the 3 o'clock position, depending on where I decide to set it.

Can someone explain this to me? Should I just set it close to what my target will be (100 yards, etc)? TIA for any and all replies.

It's a finite focus, and is referred to as parallax adjustment. Just look at the target and move the adjustment. It should roughly match, and vary with, the range you are shooting at.
