Got a few thousand rounds of 5.56 and getting nervous? Wondering what to do once they take away all the "short barreled rifles" that Walmart now hates?

Ruger American Ranch AR in 5.56. Takes the AR mags (you know, once you plug them to 10 rounds) and is drop dead sexy to boot. Plus it's threaded to take that suppressor you paid $200 and went through all the hassle to get. 5.5 lbs. of awesome sauce.

Might take you a few years longer to shoot up your ammo stash, but at least you don't have to do it 4+1 at a time.

I own that particular rifle just as a backup but I bought mine a year ago.

It's not like they're going to stop at UBCs, registration, red flag laws, semi auto bans... Next its gonna be "military" calibers, designed to tumble by swirls in the barrel which makes them extra deadly.

Dumb question because I know very little about bolt guns. What's the point of a 300 blackout bolt gun compared to 308? I get the appeal in the AR platform: short barrel .30 caliber round in the standard AR-15 platform. It would seem there are better ballistic options in a bolt action platform but again, that's probably more ignorance talking.

Same basic ballistics as 7.62x39. Uses standard .308 bullets and necked up .223 cases so easy to reload. It’s really hard to make a subsonic .308 consistent but the blackout shines there. In this case standard AR mags. All full of win.

    Running it suppressed.

I prefer suppressed bolt actions. It’s in the application. A bolt gun in 22lr or 300 blk with sub sonic ammo are great for suppressed use.

Plus a .300 blk will fit in the various micro actions so you get a shorter, lighter, and handier package.

Speaking of lighter...my 300 BLK build weighs just 7.6 lbs including scope and mount

    Hoping she’s a pig killer.

    Pegboard organizing unused AR parts....nice!

    I'm digging the grey...cerakote?

    Yeah, Cerakote.
    I bought it that way.

I should clarify that it’s not a build, I actually bought it complete (no scope), but am doing a few upgrades to it.

    I’ll start a thread
