CZ 527 in 7.62X39 is light, inexpensive, and will do the job. Mine is a tack driver at 100 yds. with an 8X scope.
I paid a little over $600 for mine a few years ago.

I made the same mistake when I started here. ALL posts are new to a new person, so not paying attention to how long it has been since a post was made on that thread is easy to do.

For a person new to rifles and wanting a good versatile caliber, try the 7mm-08 Remington.

Very gentle recoil, easy to reload for if you want to go that direction, as there is huge selection of 7mm bullets to choose from, Very accurate and makes a fine game cartridge as well.
