A friend inherited his uncle's war trophy, a 1942 Walther P-38. It's all gummed up with dried up old grease. It seems to function fine but I suggested that he take it to an experienced gunsmith to give it a look over and cleaning. Any recommendations in the Houston area?

    Out here by the lake!
Remove the grips. Buy a can of brake cleaner or gun scrubber and hose it down! Having a compressor to blow it out helps! Respect as needed.

Brake cleaner will remove every bit of lubrication, so re lubing the moving parts is very important. You don’t want anything seizing on it

He could also soak it in diesel then blow it out and repeat too!
