I have my eyes on a Talo edition tactical-style Ruger 10/22. It does not come with any iron sites at all so something would need to be added. What would you recommend as far as optics go, consistent with a $300 rifle. I am thinking function, durability and value. Let me know! Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Great topic. Wish I had something to contribute. I'm in the market for an optic for a 10/22 as well.

First, what do you plan on using the rifle for? Competition, hunting, plinking? What range do you plan on shooting at?

Second, can we get a picture of the rifle?

This thread should be in the Rimfire section.

    My opinion:

Red dot sights are good for quick shots on fast moving game/target at ranges less than 50 yards. I've had good service from TruGlo and Primary Arms sights.

If targets are going to be slower moving and at longer ranges, a good scope is called for. I have had good service from the Nikon Prostaff and Bushnell Trophy lines.

If you want to go on the cheap:

Amazon.com: Simmons .22 Mag TruPlex Reticle Rimfire Riflescope with Rings: Sports & Outdoors

BSA Sweet 22 Rimfire Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm Side Focus Duplex Reticle

For mid-priced benchrest scopes I've had great luck with:

    Mueller 8.5-25x44AO Tactical Mueller Optics

Mueller 8.5-25x50 Eraticator (Silver) Mueller Optics

Fir high-end scopes, well.... sky's the limit.
