Does the paint on this C308 look like factory or spray

Looks like a home paint job but you can only really tell in person. You can get cerakote to have that look but again it’s not a high resolution picture. But it’s got areas that scrape like paint.

Its a Century, so they might've rattle canned it themselves after importing it. Or a previous owner did. Doesn't look like Cerakote to me - looks like it could be Duracoat (Nutnfancy's favorite refinish, which you can do at home yourself) or plain spray paint.

If it was done in the factory, it was done there by someone with a can of spray paint.

Nutnfancy likes duracoat because when he tried ceracoat, he screwed up and melted a glock

Krylon is actually good paint. But ANY paint is only as good as the prep-work prior to applying the paint.

A neighbors son wants me to go hog hunting with him, he's been nagging me for some time

Three days ago he told me he would buy or trade for a 308 if I would go with him

I told him that was unnecessary, I don't like people doing that, but he said he wouldn't mind

I told him I would choose the rifle and the price ... I maxed it at $700 hoping he would change his mind ... no luck

He uses a AR-10 he bought 7 years ago, that's not going to happen today for $700, so I found this for $650, comes with 14 mags and only 40rds down the pipe

He hunts at long range due to a attack 3 years ago

After doing some research this rifle ... it is good out to 400 yards ..., can anyone back up the research, is it even worth it

That's a pretty damn good deal. If you get the chance to inspect the rifle first, ensure everything is OK and the barrel and action aren't gooped up - that's a really good deal on a CETME / HK91 clone. Especially with 14 mags. Those mags used to be $2-5 a pop, not anymore! 14 mags is a damn good start! If you don't like the color, $10 in spray paint makes it any color you like.

Also if you plan on mounting an optic.... thermal if hunting hogs at night for example, make sure you have a place to mount a rail.
