The events were that the "Game Warden" answered a call about someone spotlighting deer from a highway and went to investigate. The "poacher" both ran and shot at the officer. Soon, numerous area officers were in on the chase. The young Officer Hurst, a recent TA&MU grad, accompanied a partial SWAT team on the rural pursuit, and was killed by an AK round from the bad guy. Hurst left behind a young baby son and widow. The shooter, James Freeman, was wounded, caught, and convicted of capital murder of the officer. All of this was in attempt to avoid a road-hunting citation by Freeman. This was so bad and so stupid on several levels. We all would do well to remember this incident, in the hopes that it is never repeated. May GOD bless Hurst's soul and his survivors !
