I just bought a Savage 22 in pretty rough shape. There was surface rust all over it and the stock looked like it had been trough hell. I stripped the stock and am using some stain I had laying around to redo it. I also stripped the barrel and mag tube and painted them with some high heat flat black engine paint I had. I'll have to bake it on in the oven. I'll post pics when its done. I'm about half way there.

Well, here's my finished product. I stripped the stock and stained it with a polyurethane coat and painted and baked it on. Looks pretty good, I think.

That's alot of fun. I find tinkering with guns to be alot cheaper and more rewarding than cars, but I still love both. Lately I've had a .22 bug and I'm looking for builders that come my way.

I found this Stevens 258B 20 gage a while back and tore it apart, stripped the metal and it sat. Well last night I blued it all with the cold blue. It looks ok but I'm going to try my hand at the hot blue on the next one.

Update on the .22. If you plan on painting it, paint baked on or not, DO NOT get clp on the paint or you WILL be repainting it. It will strip it straight off. I have to do some touch up work on the end of the barrel.
