I bought my Dad a new Bushmaster AR for Christmas, Academy $649....as far as I am concerned you cant go wrong with a price like that. Tell me why I am wrong. Any issues with Bushmaster I should know about? Any tips?

It's the carbon fiber model. I have one. It's okay; just don't push the barrel to hard

Bushies get bashed just because.

Solid, accurate, reliable.

Your father will be happy and will say you are a mighty fine son.

If he does not like the rifle, he could easily trade it for some cases of beer or some bottles of whiskey, maybe a carton of smokes.

Nice gift!

Really wasn't trying to bash Bushmaster. Just ask if Polymer Lower because poster ask for tips. Was going to say what Cbigclarke said. Just don't push the barrel. Like other have said......Bushmaster is a fine Entry Level AR. You did good. Dad should love it.

Got my dad one last year. He likes it. He's been a wooden stock kind of guy (and so am I) for his whole life, but I don't think he'd get rid of it now. I actually use it more than he does. I can put about 400 rounds through it at the range without any problems.
