Here is what the interior of the apartment looks like. We had high hopes but it still. came out way nicer than we expected.

We’ve got two - a 40 by 60 we built in 2005 that is a workshop and storage and a 30 by 80 we built in 2016. The newer one has a fully furnished apartment and climate controlled workshop for my wife. The county taxes them exactly the same. If we were moving out to the country all over again we’d live in a big steel building. When you are inside the apartment you can’t tell you that aren’t in a traditional stick built home (except for the suspended ceilings). If anyone else is looking to build a workshop there is a huge amount of useful information at

Back in high school a man that owned the land next to some land my father owned, built a huge metal barn, and in the front end that faced the road, he built a house inside the barn. This was in the late 1970's. We all thought that was just crazy back then. Seems much more common now.

I built quite a few hangers that had full living quarters and offices inside. One was two story and very. very push.

Sold my cabinet/woodshop last year, and most of my big iron tools.
The plan was to build up here in AR at the lake, then the trees hit the house.
So much for that case of endeavors.

Got serious shop envy just looking.
    You're going to enjoy that!
    Congratulations
