I recently turned 21 and I wanted to know the most efficient way to get my CHL. Do I just sign up for a class, go, and thats it? I have been trying to find information on it myself, but im still a bit confused. Thanks for any help guys and or girls.

Do they no longer fingerprint in the class?

They did in mine, of course it was a few years ago.

It's all electronic only now from what I believe and only certain places are certified to do it. They did away with ink cards I think.

Does anyone know if Hotwells Shooting Range does the prints as part of the class?
No, Hot Wells does not do your prints, you'll go down to L1 as TXI mentioned. They're near Freedom Munitions on Jones and 290, but on the South side of 290. Fill out the online application on the state website I linked earlier, schedule your fingerprints with L1, and schedule your class at Hot Wells. Then while you're waiting for the class, read up on all the materials you'll need to know to pass the licensing test.

Post up a hello in the Introductions section too!

    4. DPS can use your driver's license photo for your CHL
    5. Apply online
    6. Get fingerprints scanned & submitted
    7. Send off application/certification/paperwork from class
    8. Wait...
    9. Wait...
    10. Wait...
    11. Practice
    12. Buy a good holster & belt
    13. Wait...

You can also look into getting out of state permits/licenses as well. Florida seems to be the most popular, although I think Arizona is the way to go. Just send in proof of training (a hunter's safety course will work, so will any NRA course), fingerprints, and the cash. Costs less than TX (especially when the class and ammo is factored in), takes less time, and lasts longer. Unlike a TX CHL, it won't be suspended for petty things like getting into a fist fight. In fact, unless you are found guilty of a felony or do something illegal in AZ, I doubt it will be suspended at all.

    Love mine!
