Found a blue P89 at a pawn shop. Got it for $250
Good shape, two mags, orig case (no manual)
Will probably become my truck gun; quick access console safe next up I guess.

    Anyone else have one?

Looking around Ruger’s website, it appears to have been made in 1994

The magazines seems to be reduced capacity, 10rd. This is unexpected, wonder if it was originally brought from some other state

Probably so, although you can buy handguns with reduced capacity magazines in non-communist states.

Just pick up a few 15-rounders and enjoy your pistol.

1st pistol purchase for me was a P89 in 1994, I loved the way it fit my hand, but grew to despise the trigger, traded it away, I hear the P95 trigger drops in and is an improvement,.nice find though for $250

Not necessarily. If it was manufactured in 1994, after Sep 13 of that year, the reduced capacity magazines were probably a result of the 1994 "assault weapons ban."

Great deal for $250. Never had the P89, but did have the P95 stainless model, it was a great shooting pistol... my wife could really punch some nice holes with it at the range. I sold it a couple of years ago for $500 & used that to pay the difference towards a Colt Talo Night Defender. I think i was more accurate with the longer 5" barrel of the P95... now i'm thinking i should have kept it.

Aaaaahhh that’s an option I honey had not considered. I can submit the Ruger form to get the complete history on it.

The P85 was a good gun (albeit heavy) but even better was it's "back-up" capabilities, if you ran out of ammo, those old Ruger P80 series guns were built like sledge hammers!
I also bought a P85 as my first gun in 1994. I gave it to my son, but traded him a G26 to get it back. Mine is stainless and I added a Hogue slip on grip.

Got a basic Fobus holster on the way too.
It’s a good shooter and it’s a shame to let it sit in the safe.
