Yer out in the Permian Basin. That's different. Way different.
Haskell, Stamford, Anson, Knox City, Roby, Rotan, Noodle, Aspermont, etc.....
This is cowboy country. Manners and morals still matter.
Just bide yer time when the old farm truck is idling down the FM road. Wave to the locals.
    I digress.
I'll be in touch with OP and have a proper welcome.
I'd be happy to send some of the oilfield traffic out your way.

    update:

what a great forum! being new to the Big Country, a couple of TGT members offered to take me around abilene last friday. we hopped gun shop to gun shop, meeting owners and fondling some very sweet toys. i got a good tour of the town and a fun lunch, but the best part was the company of these two guys. what they say about west texas gentlemen being gracious is true. thnx vmax and Vaquero!

A great way to spend a few hours for sure
We had to drag Wiley out of a couple gun stores! I'm pretty sure he was making plans to go back to at least one to get something he just couldn't live without!

its sure nice to be where ... folks open the door for you, ...
If you ever see me at a Family Reunion or elsewhere, ask me about this. A number of years ago I opened a door for a young lady who was born and raised in San Francisco. There's more to the story but the gist is that she stopped, stared at me like I had two heads, and was completely befuddled by me for the rest of the day.

I can't imagine growing up some place where the notion that a man should open a door for someone is so alien.

Reminds me of the time in the late 70's when I stopped a guy from, I believe it was his wife, hitting a woman. The woman jumped all over me about butting in. It got to the point where I almost told the guy to hit her again. I was the one that was befuddled.
