    Cooke County, TX
    Sorry if this topic resurrection is frowned upon but I grew up in Denton County, moved to Montague County for housing reasons, then moved to Cooke County for work. My parents are from Grayson County and all four of these counties were called "North Texas" by the media and the public school system. Gainesville is growing very rapidly (ugh) but nothing else in Cooke County is really.

    personally the amarillo area i think is north west texas. and texarkana area is north east texas. if you take a pencil and draw a vertical line down th ecenter of the state, cooke grayson denton montague (and possibly fannin) would all be considered North Texas to me.

    Wouldn't a "vertical" line divide East & West?

    Amarillo and the like are in the "Panhandle" not NW Texas. Plain to see you're not from here.
