I have the Nosler book that shows the powders recommended but I do not have any of those powders available to me. What I do have is Reloader 7, Reloader10X, BL-C 2 and H-380. Has anyone worked up a load usingthe 55 grain Nosler Varmageddon bullet That they are willing to share? The part number is 17290.

    Thanks

I've used RL10X behind 55g FMJBT and it works just fine. Look up the data on Alliant's site. It is supposed to work better with lighter bullets at near max loads. I've used BLC2 behind heavier (69g) and it, too, works fine. I've used H380 in 308 and guess it will work just as good in 223. Hodgdon has their reloading data online as well. My best load is with Benchmark behind 64g Winchester PP. It's a medium load right out of a manual.

RL7: start 19.5, max 21.6; RL10x: start 20.5, max 22.5; BL-C2: 26; H380: 24.4; 3031: 22.3 My data shows the last 3 are at case limit before powder compression, but not near max pressure. I would use one of the RLs. YMMV

I use 23.8g of H335. I don't have any of those four powders you listed.

Here is the load I developed for my AR. The range was 100 yards.

I've used RL 7 and 10 with good results and that weight of bullet. But I get the best accuracy out of my ARs with the heavier bullets like 69, 77 grain and up. My favorite is Nosler's 69 gr Custom Compitition HPBT bullet with Varget. H322 and H335 also works well. I probably use more Varget powder than of the other ones I've listed since I have a favorite recipe for the combination.

From what I have found online it looks like most people using the IMR 3031 powder with this bullet are running between 22.4 - 23.8 grains. Guess I'll work up a few rounds right at 23.0 and see how the 700 likes them.
