    .
the Coonan .357mag semi auto - this would make a nifty nightstand duty or truck center console pistol

the only "downside" (if ya can call it that) would be the grip size/length from front to back (because of the length of the .357 round)

I'm starting to really like what I read about this - anyone own/shot one ?

    reasonably priced too

I have long lusted after a Coonan. But for me, they're not what I'd call "reasonably priced". They're not outrageous for what they are. But they're not cheap either. But they are priced about what a Colt or STI 1911 would run.

    Range report please.

Also curious about switching from .38 Special to .357 Magnum. Spring swap or more parts to change, and that type of thing.

    Congrats.

thanks - and of course I'll post a range report after it's 1st range visit.....yes, there's a spring change from one caliber to the other (some have reported FTE problems with the .38spec spring, until break-in of around 500 rds, or so - no other parts changing required)

guess if I wanted another 1911 I'd have bought one
If you took that derogatory it wasn't meant to be.

I was just commenting on the appearance of it. Standard 1911 controls and appearance. Until you look closely at the trigger. The inside definitely isn't 1911.

I guess a 1911 look is a selling point to some people. If I were to design a gun that is innovative and special I would not design it to look like another gun. When you see that gun it could easily be confused for just another 1911. I would want people to know right off the bat that it was something different.

Just my thoughts but I am not in the gun design or selling business.

It is a good looking firearm and I hope you enjoy it.

I shot one of the original Coonan's back in the early 90's. It had been in to a local gun shop/range that a HS friend worked at. They pulled it out to run it after some upgrades. Fucking HUGE fireball with 357 158's out of it but it shot soft. Very nice weight and fit my hand very well. Couldn't afford one and then they went out of business for a while. They have come back with a nicely improved version of the old Coonan and the reports are great since.

    WANT this one real bad.
