Not surprising to me. In the aftermath of Woody Harrelson's dad murdering a judge in Santone, I had occasion to enter the Nueces Co Cthouse. They took a 2.5" blade knife from me because it was "WAAAY to big to allow me to keep it".

I guess they haven't heard about Texas Government Code §411.209 which contains a penalty for any state agency or political subdivision of the state (such as a city) that wrongfully attempts to exclude a concealed handgun license holder from premises or property owned or leased by a governmental entity. This new law became effective September 1, 2015....

Go to the Texas CHL section. The AG released an opinion DIRECTLY on point for this. I think the headline is overly dramatic and doesn't represent the actual facts of the matter.

A county commissioner said they acted before the AG opinion came out and under the guidance of the county attorney. I believe appropriate steps are being taken now to reverse their course of action.

Now this is just embarrassing. The sheriff doesn't know the laws concerning guns and courthouses.

uh, mister commissioner, the ban on govt banning chl predates by a decade any new AG opinion.

The problem with attorneys, is that they always look for another way to hit pay dirt without having to go to a Vegas casino.

    Be well.

    When was this?

This week they said they were going to ban open carry. I didn't anything on concealed carry.

Just last night on the news the County said they would ban open and concealed county at County Buildings. Today the AG told them that is illegal, so now the County is going to "press pause" and figure it out.
