Obama Gets Gun-Shy : Despite a recent spate of killings, the president
and fellow Democrats choose not to wage war on assault weapons.

Ah, they're just postponing the likely inevitability (if they have their way). I think it is much more likely we won't really see any new or significant gun control of any form this year or next. I think they are waiting until the 2010 elections, and if they gain an even larger majority then I think the end of 2010 and after could quite possibly turn into a living hell. That's why we need to make sure the anti-gun nuts don't win. ;)

They may wait longer than 2010. Obama does want a second term, after all. If him/his party push gun control after the midterms, he risks people remembering it for his next election. Plus, it's no less a risk to Congress, since they'll have elections at the same time.

IMO, wait until after 2012. If Obama wins and the Dems keep their majority, they'll push shortly after the inauguration.

Feinstein actually said on 60 Minutes that they did not have the votes or public opinion to push for gun control right now. After the last time around, I actually think they are trying to play it a little safe and protect/expand their majority control to the point that they don't have to worry about opposition or public backlash before they try again.

But then again, THE SKY IS FALLING!

I believe that Osama is going to wait until we are all broke and desperate. Then offer a government buy back of some kind. Then for those of us who cant be broken, he will have the "global poverty act" instated. When the "GPA" is instated NATO will have full control and ban small arms under the GPA laws. That way when TSHTF he can point the finger at NATO and pass the blame. NATO will be our NWO leader!!!

I think it may have something to do with the millions of new gun owners.

Banning the most popular rifles, handgun, and magaines used by over 90 million, and growing, Americans would not be the smartest thing to do. Black, white, rich, and poor all have guns, and we all love them. Most of the intelligent ones will vote for them.

When there were dangerous idiots about capable of doing you damage, the old timers used to say, "Keep your mouth shut, your ears and eyes wide open and both hands over your "hiney". I don't think the mouth shut fits, we need to raise cain but the rest might be good advice with the socialists trying to steal power and kill freedom at every move......:texas:
