Looks like it's finally come to pass.

Effective: December 31, 2020

The ATF had announced several days ago it was withdrawing its proposal. But then it didn't. Nothing in the Federal Register changed.

The copy of the ATF letter that circulated the internet wasn't signed. Personally, I was skeptical.
Was this just a ploy to get the public to stop commenting? (Thus showing a lack of interest on the part of 2A community). I don't put anything past the government - especially the ATF.

When some people started pointing out this lack of Federal Register documentation change, then the government came out with two or three different excuses. Along about this time, the ATF received the letter from MC (members of congress), effectively, telling them to knock it off (the public had started complaining to them).
