The incompetence in the Department seems to have no end in sight. Fortunately for the son, Pops was incompetent at shooting in addition to being incompetent at Identification. They are trying to keep this one from getting out, not even releasing names, though by stating shooting happened at 1400 block of Carriage Creek Drive, DeSoto, Texas, it is not hard to find out who owns that home.

What's incompetent about shooting an intruder? Your bias is showing.

This is just another example of why only trained police officers should be allowed to have firearms.

    Wait... Nevermind.

On a more positive note, at least it appears the officer wasn't in a mixed race marriage so the story became another white cop shoots black guy story.

It wasn't an intruder, and he basically missed his target. Your stupidity is showing.
It is really not related to him being a cop.
    Yup.
The incompetence is him being in such a hurry to shoot that even in broad daylight he shot before he not only identified WHO he was shooting at but also whether or not the target was even a danger.
