My father and Alex Raymond during the island campaign. When Alex created the Rip Kirby comic strip he would pattern many of the characters after people he knew and served with. Apparently my father was a butler named Fully Fredwood, a play on his nickname and our family name.
Dad apparently was close friends with Pappy Boyington also. The two of them would disappear for many days while on a heavy bender. I wish I had pictures of those two together.
