    My grandpa was a steam engine boiler man on the SP railroad.
    I'll bet he knew how to run an efficient engine. That was hard work and the easiest day was to have a very clean engine. Did he work in the operating department or the shops? My other grandpa worked in the shops as electrical supervisor. I was a freight conductor.

    Stories, that's what I liked most about the 40's and 50's. The old folks told stories. We didn't have TV until late 50's. I sat and listened to the old men and women talk about current and past happenings. I still like to tell stories about the old days. But, todays generation doesn't want to hear it unless it is on the cell phone.
