    • Photographer captured the moment lightning hit the Volcán de Agua, or ‘Volcano of Water’ in Guatemala
    • The bolts came came shooting out from two communication antennas atop the 12,000-foot high volcano
    • The volcano, located in Antigua, Guatemala, sits opposite of the twin volcanoes of Fuego and Acatenango

The U.S. escort carrier USS Thetis Bay (CVE-90) en route to NAS Alameda, California with a deck load of war-weary planes in 1944. The planes visible on deck are eight Consolidated PBY Catalina flying boats, 18 Grumman F6F Hellcat fighters, and a Grumman J2F "Duck" amphibious biplane.

NAS Alameda is where, the one and only time, I saw Air Force One in person (Bill Clinton). Alas, NAS Alameda is no more.

I worked at the aircraft company in Waco that hosted Air Force One when Bush came to his Crawford ranch. He would occasionally shake hands before boarding Marine One. You could just walk out on the flight line and go up to the aircraft and look around (never tried to board).

This is a giant mountain of scrap tires...the sort of thing that, if ignited, would burn for years.
