The police stopped by here about ten minutes ago asking about a Ruger SR9c I pawned a year or two ago. All they would tell me is it was found at a crime scene. TG I remembered where I sold it and the business will have records!! It pisses me off that some A-hole douche bag could have caused me some serious problems!!

A fine argument for never selling a firearm. :D

why do you need a paper trail of where the gun went ?

All you say is it was sold. They look at the evidence and see you are not a criminal and was no where near where the crime was committed when it happened.

Probably makes a better argument for buying all guns through private sales.
Anyone else want to make the argument that the 4473 is not registration?

Yes, they can take my word that I sold the gun. However, I might not have an alibi if they have no other leads and pursue investigation against me because I live alone in a rural area. I have no criminal record but many crimes are committed by people with no prior convictions.

I bought the pistol new at Academy Sports and the police had record of that. BTW, I've also sold guns to individuals who I trust. I won't be doing that ever again without a signed sales receipt.

The pawn shop didn't have to fill out a 4473 when they resold it?

It could have been sold to a legit buyer when then find sold

No telling how many hands have owned that gun

Perhaps it got stolen from the pawn shop? Either that or the pawn shop is selling guns without 4473.

Luckily you didn't sell a car that later got into a wreck.

They did, but the police are following the paper trail. It started at Ruger.
