    Ok, I have read some contradictory stuff.

    One thing I read was that all "armor peircing rounds" were illegal. All rounds with above X % of steel or other very hard metal. It also said that some particular brands were made illegal, such as KTW's.

    I've also read on a different site that rounds, such as KTW's were legal, they just weren't usually sold to non-LEO entities.

    I've also heard and seen steel cored ammo for sale, not to mentin solid copper bullets.

    I also consider most rifles to be "armor peircing." I don't know if ceramic plates and other modern day armor could stop most deer rifle rounds or not.

    Could someone clear this up for me.

    Thanks

    Just check the laws;

    Texas Penal Code

    46.01 Definitions
    (12) "Armor-piercing ammunition" means handgun ammunition that is designed primarily for the purpose of penetrating metal or body armor and to be used principally in pistols and revolvers.

    Sec. 46.05. PROHIBITED WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures, transports, repairs, or sells:

    (7) armor-piercing ammunition;

    If you check the ATF FAQ you will find federal law the same.

    Only handgun ammunition is prohibited.

    Well, Texas42, you asked the question and I don't think you could have gotten any more accurate answer than TXInvestigator gave you. Just my 2 cents worth.

    Happy handloading and shooting.
