i posted up that i was going to go with 870, but a trip to the pawn store i was able to get a 500 for a good deal. i'll post pics as soon as im "undelayed"

Sometimes a deal just jumps out at you. I too was shopping for an 870 to use as an HD gun, and found a Mossberg 500, which is now a bit different than when purchased, but serves its purpose well and saved a hundred bucks or so.

I've been shooting the Mossberg 500s for about 20 years and never had a complaint.

This is my 18" 20 gauge w/ rifle sights:

It does really well with #4 buck and Remington slugs.
