This is downright wrong and this prooves a point. Even UFC is allowing these creeps to fight women. I am am sure lgbt considers this the right thing to do.

Not all of them. Not by a long shot. There are a lot of completely cool trans folk who consider this new emphasis in the culture on trans rights to be a perversion of the established medical processes involved in treating real gender dysphoria, something that's very, very rare but, nevertheless, requires treatment. The thing is, there's now this thing called "affirmative treatment" where everyone simply accepts that a person is the gender they claim, without question. This has substantially derailed the entire medical community that used to actually treat gender dysphoria.

This "Accept the patient's diagnosis of their condition" mantra is insane. It allows anyone to game the system.

The video you posted is an example of gaming the system in sports. But it's in other places, too, and often given the power of the state to enforce it. For example, in California and (iirc) Oregon, the state has decided you are whatever gender you say you are. Your word is law on the subject, no matter what. The result? Literally hundreds of men in prison have suddenly become trans women and have started being transferred to women's prisons. It's a complete cluster.

There are plenty of fine, sensible lgbt folk who understand that all this, this "gender dysphoria is fashionable" thing, is wrong and that there will be a backlash. They are not looking forward to it.

Not even all trans folks think this is right. I have a f>m coworker and he thinks it is super f'd up. If your genes and chromosomes didn't matter you would see as many f>m competing and winning as you see m>f.

I think they should simply look at chromosomes. If you have a Y-chromosome, you are male for the purposes of sport and competition. END OF STORY.

@benenglish is entirely correct, There is a huge and complete difference between someone born with such an abnormality as being a true transgender and someone that simply identifies as one. Medically, there are quite few.

IIRC, some professional sports actually test for such things to identify true gender. If i'm not mistaken, this is big deal with the Olympic sports. I think it has to be something with hormones and DNA, but much more complicated than I understand.

There are some medical conditions where there is an xy chromosome and yet the person has the physical characteristics of a woman and most of these “women “ don’t know they are genetically men. Their lives can be ruined if their real sex is identified. Very difficult situation. Not just a sports issue. Most are identified because of infertility issues.

Given the rarity woth which those disorders occur, added to the irregularity of which your average person engages in competitive sports, this shouldn't be an issue.

If people want to have a genetic disorder because it is trendy, why don't they go back to pretending to have a gluten allergy?

Because that wouldn't be a fashionable trend, or political. Or one that some could display "wokeness" over.

Gluten allergy doesn't work for any of the purposes that most "trans" folks need it to.

By far, the OP's video notwithstanding, the fastest growth in trans identity is among young girls. They get it because it's contagious. I mean that literally.

Girls, much more than boys, engage in "co-rumination." They get together and talk about their feelings. If you're a young girl (say, under 20) and your friend says they are trans, when you share your feelings and you seem to share all the same pain, then you get the idea that maybe you may be trans, too. All young girls are in pain of one sort or another. If they're not well socialized and independent, that pain is often handled by sharing with her friends and adopting the solutions used by those friends. That's basic human nature.

Trans identity tends to be contagious among friend groups. One decides she's trans and her friends all think "Well, our problems are similar. Maybe our solutions are, too." That's the way it spreads.

This is a well-documented phenomenon. We know from experience that it's the way anorexia nervosa spreads. Also, bulimia, cutting, deciding to worship Satan, and a hundred other fads that have seized large numbers of (mostly middle-class and higher white) girls since WWII.

I'm not being flip about this. These girls have real problems (all kids do) but their upbringing didn't give them the tools to deal with those problems. So because girls tend to talk and share feelings (co-rumination), friend groups tend to latch onto any solution found by any one of them.

They benefit immediately from all this. It puts them on the cutting edge of fashion. They are lauded by their peers and many adults in positions of authority. The initial benefits commit them to their course of action. Later is when the problems begin but, at first, coming out as trans makes girls (well, anyone who does it) feel brave and special. That's a great ego boost and I can understand why someone would want it.

So, the uptick massive increase in the number of people reporting themselves as trans is understandable. It's basically a comforting fashion statement.

The problem is that it's become political and a whole ecosystem of support has sprung up.

We know from experience that there will be loonies who will tell people that whatever is wrong with them is actually right and the rest of the world is wrong. Cutters have support groups that don't try to help them stop cutting but, instead, tell them that they're perfect the way they are. There are "pro ana" groups that actively campaign for girls to become anorexic, promoting it as a good thing.

Now, everyone knows those support groups that want a physical and mental problem to become more widespread are misguided at best and downright evil at worst.

    Until now.

With trans activists, they managed to tag along with the whole gay rights issues for a while to gain some political advantage. Believe me, there are plenty of LGB folks who really wish they could drop the "T" from "LGBT". It doesn't matter. The media and culture have been saying "lgbt" for so long that being trans was accepted as just a part of life and just as valid as being gay.

That was the camel's nose under the tent.

Now there are people making money from the whole thing. There are people gaining political power. There are even people winning wrestling matches.

Because it tagged along with the political acceptance of gayness, being trans has now become something that, well, if you're against it, you must be an ignorant, biased hater.

That's being exploited by all sorts of folks for their own gain and profit and to hell with the long-term damage done to the girls who were just looking for a way to ease their pain. The activists are certainly making coin off the pain of young people.

And like any movement that becomes sufficiently politically strong, it finds itself instantiated into law and medical practices.

The age for consent for medical treatment in Oregon is 15. If a 15-year-old biological girl walks into a Planned Parenthood clinic in that state and declares themselves trans, there's no questioning, no investigation, no parental notice. They can walk out with testosterone.

There are doctors out there who will remove a girl's breasts upon request, without proof that the girl got any counseling or therapy before making the decision to try to become a boy.

And because standard medical practice is now "affirmative care" (which means if you say you're trans, no one may question your determination), the medical system affirms that the girl has properly diagnosed herself and provides these treatments without follow-up, without the mandatory involvement of any mental health professional.

NOTE - It isn't yet common for a girl to take all those steps completely unsupervised and on her own authority. But it's possible in some jurisdictions and it's a path that's becoming more available in more places every day.

There's been too little followup and not enough long-term testing to determine what will eventually happen to these girls and the lesser number of boys who are doing the same things.

But if you've watched YouTube enough, you can find that some of the folks in the first wave of this fashionable malady have already lived long enough to regret their path. It can tear your heart out to see some formerly pretty girl who has tried to become a boy and decided that was a mistake. If they took it far enough, they wake up in their mid to late 20s without breasts, infertile, with their bodies subtly reshaped to just look wrong to the world. They know they screwed up.

Actually, it's nice to see a YT video by one of those people because at least they're still alive. Far too many of them, when it dawns on them how they've so massively screwed up their bodies, minds, and lives, simply commit suicide.

50 years from now, the entire Western world will look back on this period and wonder "What the hell were we thinking?"

And much (most?) of the non-Western world will still be laughing at us for ever going through this phase.
