Howdy folks, my name is Eric, I'm a long-time lurker, just got to talking on here. Anyhow, enough of myself -
The Williamson County Chapter of Open Carry Texas is putting on an open carry walk in Georgetown on 2-23-14 at 1:00 PM starting at the old courthouse. Long guns and black powder firearms ONLY as per current law. If you've got a flag, bring it too. Firearms are optional, if you'd feel more comfortable with a flag than OC, that's okay! Your participation is still appreciated.
We have contacted Georgetown PD regarding the event and found a welcoming response, an encouraging thing considering how some departments tend to enforce opinion rather than law.
If anyone is not familiar with OCT - Open Carry Texas
Open Carry Texas (OCT) is an organization dedicated to the safe and legal carry of firearms openly in the State of Texas in accordance with the United States and Texas Constitutions and applicable laws.
Our Mission:
1) To educate all Texans about their right to openly carry
rifles and shotguns in a safe manner.
2) To condition Texans to feel safe around law-abiding
citizens that choose to carry them.
3) Encourage our elected officials to pass less restrictive
open carry legislation.
(4) Foster a cooperative relationship with local law enforcement
in the furtherance of these goals with an eyetowards
preventing negative encounters.
