I have been pondering the purchase of a .45 .I was first attracted to the M & P .45,but I did a lot of reading, price checking, and went to Cabelas to "feel" my choices. The P345 felt good in my hand, had a much better price than most of the others, and has pretty good reviews.Do any of you have any experience/opinions on this Ruger?

Although i think the M&P is a better gun... the best thing you can do is buy what feels good to YOU.

The Ruger P345 is a solid gun. It has a pretty good trigger and the recoil on it is very tame. I only had one for a about 6 months and it had 3,200 rds when i bought it and i put another 1,200 through it and it never gave me a single problem. I only sold it because it was during the peak of the ammo shortage and it was hard to find .45 and i traded it for a .40.

If ammo was available at the time, i would still have it.

I'm picking up my first Ruger this weekend, a SR9c. If I could, I'd get a P345 as well. I just like how they fit in my hand, very comfortable. I'll probably pick one up later this spring or summer.
