There are always pro's and con's to everything. That said, in most self defense situations your going to be 10 yards or less. I can hit a man sized target from 10 yards just by pointing without aiming. You also may not have time to aim properly like you do shooting static paper targets at a gun range. A laser sight can be great if you want to shoot without exposing your body from cover. Just put the dot on target and shoot. My laser on target looks like a Spirograph. Those rock steady lasers in movies are on stands. I do not see any benefit to use a laser unless you are planning to shoot from a low position.
The green is supposed to be easier see, but I prefer red. I own both.
I can shoot my 365xl much better then my 365. Not sure why, I just can. Yes the grips on the 365xl are a little bit larger the regular 365.Came here to say I like the p365 xl, no laser just open sights. Noticed that going from an Xd to this, that the handgrip angle seems a little different to me. Have to hold gun a little higher or something, that how I naturally held the Xd, the sig shot a little lower. Just what I noticed, could be wrong. How bout you?
I need to get some optics for my rifle, probably going to go a decent poors route. I wasn’t too crazy with some red dots, as the red dot at 200 yards was bigger then a decent moa and was hard to even aim small, if you know what i mean. So with optics, I like a high magnification just so I can actually see the target, but want the availability to go open sights just for reliance. There are always pro's and con's to everything. Unless your bench shooting your always gonna have movement on your site picture. Most good shooters will time the sight picture and pull the trigger only when your site is actually on target.
I started using a red dot not long ago and find it much more accurate then iron sights.
One complaint I got with the sig, is that it seems the polymer magazine well flexes a little more than Il think it should. Really think it should be a tad thicker. After seeing how much the front of the grip module flexes with a two-handed grip, I wouldn't count on a laser mounted to the front rail.
Why not have both? A laser is not gonna block your iron sights. The open sites on any P365 beats a laser in my opinion. I never want to rely on a battery or technology to save my life. That is my opinion but lots of people love lasers.

I mostly carry my 365 rather then the xl. The dove tail on the xl pokes me in the gut when I appendix carry so I prefer the regular 365.
A laser sight does not take away from or block the iron sights. You can still run a laser and keep the iron sights. For that mater you can also run a red dot and laser and still have your iron sights intact. So why not have more options at your disposal as long as it does not take away from your iron sights. Isn't more options better?Watched as much as I could. My experience with lasers is they're bunk. Yeah, you can see it in the daylight ONCE YOU FIND IT. I spent more time looking for the laser than shooting. It's not faster in the slightest. IMHO you're much better off using the night sights or just instinctive point and shoot rather than searching for a tiny dot that's wiggling on a moving target. ymmv
Not if they're slower. Plus cost and worse ergos on the grip. To each their own. A big visible green laser may help, but the tiny red dot just hinders me more than it helps.A laser sight does not take away from or block the iron sights. Not saying what’s right or wrong, just what is the tool for? Close up, if your using a tool for further distances, that is where precision comes into the argument, imo.Not if they're slower. Sounds like someone needs more practice using different sighting options. Not if they're slower. Plus cost and worse ergos on the grip. To each their own. A big visible green laser may help, but the tiny red dot just hinders me more than it helps.
