I will reccomend getting a JP high pressure bolt when you go 6.5cm. Ive had issues with blown primers on Hornady American Gunner 140gr bthp.

After doing some research on line it seems to be a common problem with the 6.5cm. They say the firing pin hole on most .308bcg's is too large & causes over pressure sometimes. Ive read try using heavier buffer & adjustable gas block... but the common solution is the JP HP bolt.

So, I got the upper built and took it to the range yesterday. I ran 40 rounds of 125 grain Winchester through her. Sure enough, I had one primer that burned through. I noticed some smoke after ejection and found a hole in the primer. I’ll continue to watch, but I may need to invest in new JP HP bolt if it keeps up.

You'll know you are really hooked when you start selling off other hobbies to buy more guns.

Until then you are just a part timer.

Besides shooting, my only other hobby is motorcycles. I have four in the garage right now. While I do plan to sell one or two of them, it is only to buy another.

I definitely enjoyed building the upper, and will probably build a lower to go with it. It was more satisfying than buying a ready made rifle, though I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a Saint.

    And so it starts.

Wait til you purchase a new firearm because someone gave you a box of ammo in some new-fangled caliber you didn't have. And now you need a firearm that shoots it. THAT'S when you know you are addicted!

So, it wasn’t a box of ammo, but a t-shirt. My son gave me a “gun shirt” last year because he thought I might wear it. I needed the gun to match.
