So let me get this straight?????

An illegal is trying to shoot a blind deer and the land owner calls the Sheriff. A deputy is shot by a sniper (with a 'silencer') but is actually his own BUG (a .380 with a 'silencer'?) and a $17,000 reward is offered. The illegal runs off.

The deputy 'comes clean' (maybe to collect the reward by turning himself in??)

    This sounds like comedy sketch??

I can almost hear Barney telling this story to Sheriff Andy Taylor.

Let me see if I have this straight. He's approaching a suspected deer blind with his service pistol in one hand and his flashlight in the other . And his BUG in an ankle holster goes off??? WTF

    That place east of Waco....
Probably a single-action auto that was carried Condition 1 in a cheap holster and the safety slipped off....

That's why I like Condition 2 for guns like that.

Years ago a small local gunshop - before the passage of the CHL law - had two ADs in five years. Both were caused by LEOs mishandling a firearm. One loaded a shop's gun (to see if it would feed his ammo) and pulled the trigger (it fed the ammo and it went "BANG"). The other was when an LEO was showing off his back-up pistol and made it go "BANG" also. Both incidents put new holes in the ceiling of the shop. Both LEOs were permanently banned from the shop forever.
