Oh come one now that would be easy to create. Let's see, you are convicted of murdering someone - you get the death penalty - that will stop you from ever breaking the law again just because you are dead. I should be in politics.
I had bounced law language off Ted Cruz's office once when Robert Francis O'Rourke was running against him .. Something along the lines of "The Common Sense Gun Violence Prevention Act" If you are convicted in any competent court in any state: using a firearm in any crime, or being in possession of a firearm in commission of a crime, Federal Statue requires the death penalty.

As I put it to the Cruz staff, I realize it would never fly, but since at the time Democrats and O'Rourke and the Demos were screaming for "Common sense" gun violence laws.... submit that bill in the Senate and when the Demos scream!! Start the ball rolling to expose their anti gun stance, not anti violence... Never would happen, but great theater none the less

You would think that Acevedo would spend his time looking out for his officers, but he is and always has been a Democratic Party (socialist) tool. It's not surprising that he uses tragedy to try to advance his political career.

I'll beat 10 dollars and a donut the officer was wearing a low budget ballistic vest against mainstream ammo. HPD is 'claiming' it may be armor piercing rounds.

I was thinking that he might have been shot through the side, or somewhere not protected by the vest, and at an angle.

I should have taken it. HPD is saying that the vest performed as expected, and stopped one shot that hit it at the edge. The fatal shot was just below the vest.

"Sgt. Brewster's vest had a strike at the edge which did not actually penetrate the vest. Moreover, it was determined that other damage to the vest was not a penetration and at least one round was a strike below the vest (between the belt and the bottom of the vest.) Again, the vest performed as expected and there was no vest failure," the department's release said in part.
And I just found out that he lived a few houses down from me. I'd never met him, and it sounds like that's my loss.

I'll bet the shooter had previously been convicted of domestic violence which would have already made him a prohibited person under the Lautenberg Amendment.
