The Latest on Gun Control from the Democrats:
DiFi, Boxer and the merry band of Dimwitted Dems are at it again. this time with a plot right out of Minority Report . . .Anyone here a Sci-Fi fan? I always liked that movie and book . . . Get a bunch of psychics, drug them up and get them to look into the future and identify those who will commit a crime . . . Arrest . . Prosecute . . repeat as ne...cessary until there is no crime!
Of course, the central character . . a cop . . was all for this until it was turned on him . . later we find that the system was subverted by corruption . . . but that couldn't happen in real life could it?
Well . . . yes . .absent the psychics on mind expanding/bending drugs . .. . . Que Timothy Leary . . .
In DiFi's/Boxer's latest attempt to expand government influence and abridge the Second Amendment, she is proposing legislation that lets most anyone, for most any reason get a mental health warrant and have the person arrested and his firearms seized by the state.
Of course . . it titled in a benign fashion . . The "Pause for Safety Act."
No recourse against the person making the complaint. So anyone, any anti gun person, may go to court and claim that YOU are mentally unstable and have the Law enforcement kick your door down, shoot your dog and seize you and your firearms. How many kids and spouses are going to be caught in the crossfire?
How many spouses are going to use this in a family law case?
So . .They really are coming to take our guns away! Don't believe it when they say they aren't!
Its time to rise up and let your elected representative know that this is UNACCEPTABLE!
Here is a quick taste of what is coming:
This would also allow them to create a registry when they "safeguard" the firearms collected.

"One, it would help ensure that families and others can go to court and seek a gun violence prevention order to temporarily stop someone close to them who poses a danger to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm.
Two, it would help ensure that families and others can also seek a gun violence prevention warrant that would allow law enforcement to take temporary possession of firearms that have already been purchased if a court determines that the individual poses a threat to themselves or others.
Three, it would help ensure that law enforcement makes full use of all existing gun registries when assessing a tip, warning or request from a concerned family member or other close associate."

Here is a quick taste of what is coming:
Quoted from PopVox & The Truth About Guns among others."Gun Violence, Gun Control and Mental Health Legislation
The chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA), introduced mental health and domestic violence legislation aimed at reducing and preventing gun violence:
Promoting Healthy Minds for Safer Communities Act (HR 4783): Prohibits the purchase or possession of a firearm by individuals subject to involuntary outpatient commitment if a court finds they pose a significant and dangerous threat to themselves or others. (Current federal law has been interpreted to apply only to inpatient commitments.) Strengthens federal and state partnerships by providing grants to states to strengthen gun violence prevention laws that prohibit individuals with dangerous risk factors from possessing firearms. Prohibits the purchase or possession of a firearm by individuals convicted of misdemeanor stalking. Includes measures to strengthen and improve intervention efforts, boost mental health research, enhance information sharing and research on gun violence, and improve the submission of mental health records into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), the database used to determine whether or not a prospective buyer is eligible to buy a firearm. (According to the bill sponsor.)
Another related bill was also introduced after the shooting:
End the Purchase of Firearms by Dangerous Individuals Act (HR 4784): Expands the disqualifying mental health criteria to prevent a person from purchasing a gun if a mental health professional determines that the individual is likely to cause serious harm to themselves or others; encourages states to establish systems for mental health professionals to voluntarily report patients meeting strict dangerousness standards into the FBI's NICS system; and protects patients' privacy rights and allowing professionals to fully evaluate their own patient's needs, according to the bill sponsor, Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI).
Since the UC Santa Barbara shooting, Congressman Tim Murphy (R-PA) - a clinical psychologist - is urging his colleagues in Congress to improve the nation's mental health system. "How many more people must lose their lives before we take action on addressing cases of serious mental illness? Washington must take action on my bill," urged Congressman Murphy. His bill is considered to be the most comprehensive overhaul of the mental health system since the Kennedy Administration:
Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (HR 3717): - Bipartisan - Focuses on delivering acute psychiatric care to the most challenging cases of serious mental illness; includes provisions to expand access to inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment; and training for law enforcement and first responders to understand how and when to properly intervene when a person is experiencing a mental health crisis. Also encourages states to adopt a "need for treatment" standard of commitment rather than the imminent danger standard. (According to the bill sponsor.)
From our Hill Sources: As Chairman of the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce, Congressman Murphy, will hold a briefing on Thursday to highlight the committee's recent report on federal mental health resources and programs.
In addition, Congressman Ron Barber (D-AZ), who was injured in the 2011 Tucson shooting that killed six people and injured former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, introduced a bill in early May to also address mental health services:
Strengthening Mental Health in Our Communities Act (HR 4574): Would create a White House Office for Mental Health Policy that is responsible for developing and implementing a national strategy to combat mental health; bolster mental health for veterans and active duty service members; strengthen and invest in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) programs; improves Medicaid and Medicare mental health services and provide parity of mental health services; and provides grants for schools and communities to create comprehensive mental health programs, according to bill sponsors.
Last year, President Obama issued an Executive Order directing the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to research the causes and prevention of gun violence -- lifting a 17-year ban on federal gun violence research. (Presidential Memo.) Members of Congress have introduced legislation to expand and fund federal gun violence research:
Gun Violence Prevention Research (HR 4707 and S 2373): To fund research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on gun violence prevention and firearms safety. Calls for $10 million each year for six years beginning in fiscal year 2015. President Obama included $10 million in his budget proposal released in March, according to the bill sponsors."
This would also allow them to create a registry when they "safeguard" the firearms collected.
