This is the technique I bought a zoom for. The technique is to shoot multiple exposures with a 5mm zoom out and lighting change.
First was the red exposure with the red filtered Vivatar 283 from behind then a second exposure withn no filter lit from the front right at about 45 degrees. This was shot on Kodachrome 64, one frame and printed on Cibachrome. This is a low res scan from a print. My wife's photo.

Some people see Snoopy in the shot and others see a man. What do you see?
Both right side profile, I see a chameleon and droopy eared lamb.
Head on, I see left eye and muzzle of a wolf.
    No man, no Snoopy. :p

Got this today while following some dove around the tank. Used an EF Mount Canon 75-300. Had to do a good bit of cropping, and trying to get the high shutter speed needed in a shaded area with the sun getting low…
1/8000, F5.6, ISO 32k iirc. Might have bumped the F stop to scratch out a little more sharpness, but doubt it.

I think your DOF was spot on. The front and back of it are framing the birds. Nice.

Every year my wife and I do a year-at-a-glance calendar. Here is a low res image for 2023. It prints on 11x17 inch paper.

If anyone wants the high res print version just let me know by DM or PM or whatever it's called this year.

Every year for the past 20+ years we have done a year at a glance type calendar. Sometimes it has her photo, sometime mine. Here is this year's in low resolution. If anyone wants one in print resolution message me your e-mail. It prints on 11x17 paper and I recommend a card stock. We print 100 a year at Office Depot. There in the mail to whoever my wife sends them to. Only one left on the fridge.

    Some more of Shirley's work.
The dancer was lit with 10 lights, five strobe and five tungsten. Shot with a 4x5 view camera to the dancer so the dancer had to stay in a certain area. Polaroid type 55 positive negative film so she got immediate feedback on how much motion shows and dancer approval of her own position. There were five or six differt leaps, movements etc. in the series.

This one is from her series "Sophisticated People" using the original definition from the root word sophistry. It was fun to watch all the dirty old men at the faculty show. Their faces really fell when the realized it was a fiberglass mannequin. Priceless.

These were just a few of her photographs. I don't have a 4x5 film scanner to do more.
