Press release from the FPC regarding membership:

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 30, 2023) — Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) issued a statement regarding membership:

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, the Board of Directors of Firearms Policy Coalition made a number of formal changes to the membership structure of the organization. First, the Board granted an Individual Membership to all individual monetary donors of FPC who have supported FPC’s activities through financial contribution(s) of twenty U.S. Dollars ($20) or more from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2023, inclusive. Those memberships will have an effective date of June 1, 2022, and an expiration date of December 31, 2023, unless the Individual Member renews the granted membership on or before the end of 2023.

This granted membership will ensure that all individuals who supported the work of the organization in the period with a financial contribution of $20 or more are officially recognized by FPC as an Individual Member. FPC will update its membership records accordingly on or about June 1, 2023, and then send a message confirming the granted membership status to all such individuals by email as soon as possible. This one-time donor membership program will not affect the membership term of current FPC members.

Additionally, the Board established a new structure for the classification of certain types of members, including:

    • Individual Members (for individual persons)
    • Commercial Members (for for-profit entities)
    • Affiliate Members (for non-profit entities)
All current FPC members in good standing will be reorganized into the appropriate classification of membership under the new membership structure. To support the new membership structure, FPC will soon establish new online member application forms for each membership class. In the meantime:

    • INDIVIDUALS: If you are an individual who would like to Join FPC and support our work, please sign up online at JoinFPC.org.
    • INDUSTRY & NONPROFITS: If you are a manufacturer, distributor, or retailer of goods, or a pro-freedom nonprofit organization, and would like to join FPC, please contact us at alliance@fpchq.org.

Excellent. I'm impressed by their rapid response to what had to be a slammed situation; more impressed with their decisions/maneuvering re dates of membership.

This is the kind of action that will have people looking for the "Lifetime" membership option. AFAIK, it is currently not an available option but something FPC should look into adding.

Federal judge in Texas blocks Biden ATF pistol brace rule on day of deadline to register weapons

Preliminary injunction was a win for Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners Foundation, State of Texas

The critical difference in the two cases is that a non-private entity, the State of Texas, is party to this lawsuit. Former Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a motion for a preliminary injunction against ATF earlier this month, arguing the pistol-brace rule will inflict compliance costs on Texas police who own previously legal handguns with stabilizing braces and must now expend resources to register those weapons. Tipton agreed and found that Texas established standing to sue ATF and "has sufficiently shown that it will suffer irreparable harm absent a preliminary injunction enjoining the enforcement of the Final Rule."

Thank God. The GOA suit drives right to the issues I see with the rule and more since ATF repudiated the previous open letters that addressed shotguns like the Shockwave and the Tac-14 that can accept a brace, which appears to also now make them subject to the NFA.

GOA also points out several substantive APA violations as well. Those guys really did their homework.

Constitutionally, GOA argues 2A violation due to Bruen, 5A vioaltion on Self-incrimination due to F1 penalty of perjury, 5A Due Process on the stamp tax as an unapportioned direct tax, and wholesale retroactive criminalization on previously legal activity.

If a felon is just someone who has committed a felony, then many here were likely felons long before today...

In my understanding, no one is a felon until they have been convicted of a felony crime.
