Now TXI can come along and decipher he legaleze. I have discussed it with him here several years ago and IIRC it doesn't provide as much as it sounds like.

    Helotes!
If their policy is no firearms, and you get caught with a firearm, they will find a way to dismiss you. They don't have to provide a reason for firing an employee in an 'at will' state...

The bottom line is what is more important to you? Having a handgun in your vehicle or your job? If you choose to carry one and get caught, it's on you. As most have said, if that's the route you choose, the best thing to do is keep your mouth shut about it!

And I do sympathize. I work on a Federal installation where firearms are prohibited by policy (USC 18, Sec 930 only prohibits them in facilities). If one were to be found in my vehicle, it could prevent me from working there. That sucks, but in my case income is a priority over my 2A rights...:(

I am starting a new job next week and I was wondering if there were any exceptions to being able to have a pistol in your vehicle in the parking lot of work. I drove past where I will be working today and they had a bunch of “no guns allowed” signs at the entrances to the parking lots.
I thought companies couldn’t prohibit employees from having firearms in their personal vehicles parked in the parking lot. What am I missing?

I'm not really certain how the carry laws in Texas are going to help a person in North Dakota...............

Is this new job in Texas sir?

Ok thanks folks. I am caught up on the thread now. It does look like I am saved from legal consequences but I can still be fired.

    "Zacylu!"

Ok......, the closest I can get with the dictionary is - Zaculeu or Saqulew is a pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site in the highlands of western Guatemala......
and Urban Dictionary says pulling a Zach is -The act of getting a girl naked in bed, and then rolling over and falling asleep. Leaving her unsatisfied.....

    Is that German?

    An acronym?

The exxon mobil site in woodlands had us sign an agreement regarding guns.
Couldnt have so much as a spent shotgun hull in your vehicle. And they had dogs sniffing our vehicles

Be sure to keep the vehicle locked.

A huge multinantional company tried to fire one of my employees for having a gun in his vehicle in the parking lot. My own company tried to say that our own company policy forbid guns. Both companies backed down after I provided them with a copy of the Texas statute.
