So I've currently planned out the route and locations for my next trip to Texas. Starting to save all the money I can, and do some things on the side for extra money.

    Here's the current plan:

Day 1: Aqua Caliente, AZ (BLM Camping, shooting)
Day 2: Tombstone, AZ (Hotel, BBQ, sightseeing, maybe some BLM shooting at 31.677284, -110.111904 (unconfirmed))
Day 3: Lordsburg, NM (BLM camping and shooting) (Cordinates: 32°45'25.0"N 108°56'02.5"W)
Day 4 & 5: El Paso, TX (Hotel, Rosa's Cantina, maybe a meet up with some people from TGT, outskirts shooting)
Day 6: Lubbock, TX (Hotel, Buddy Holly Statue and West Texas Walk of Fame, The Shack BBQ, National Ranching Heritage Center, maybe some range shooting)
Day 7: Amarillo, TX (Big Texan Steak House, camping in Palo Duro Canyon, Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, hiking, kicking back in the Canyon (maybe .22 plinking if possible))
Day 8: Fredricksburg, TX (Hotel, German food, Heavy Metal bar)
Day 9 and 10: Bandera, TX and Boerne, TX (camping, Bussbee's BBQ, 11th Street Cowboy Bar, Silver Dollar, shops, Bandera Gun Club range shooting, Enchanted Springs Ranch, Fishing, hiking, off roading, site seeing)
Day 11 and 12: San Antonio, TX (Hotel, The Alamo, La Villita, Mission Concepcion, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, River Walk, Buckhorn Saloon and Texas Ranger Museum, Brisket Quessadillas (forgot resturaunt name), Battle for Texas: The Experience, Texas Transportation Museum, Range Shooting)
Day 13: Corpus Christi, TX (Hotel, beach seeing, mostly a relax day)
Day 14: stop in Laredo, TX, then drive to Fort Davis for the night. (Las Kekas mexican food, Mission seeing, range shooting, checking into motel)
Day 15: Breakfast then some historical site seeing in Fort Davis, then start the drive to Phenoix. Spend night at friend's in Phenoix, AZ.
Day 16: Return home to hell

I'm open to suggestions for locations or restaurants btw!

Busbee’s in Bandera would be a non-starter for me, the best BBQ in Bandera is Chicken Charlies at the north end of town by the ice machine. Enchanted Springs isn’t always open, I think it’s more for private events now. If you can hit Bandera on a Wednesday, The 11th St Bar has a cook your own steak night, and they always have a great band playing on stage.

First, the panhandle excursion in the summer probably isn’t the wisest thing to do and it’s probably close to 14 hours out of the way.

Phoenix to El Paso is a day’s drive. Grab some Tex-Mex and then head over the Big Bend National Park and BB Ranch State Park for a few days. Drive in to Terlingua one night for dinner at the Starlight. Leaving, see about a night show at McDonald Observatory in Alpine.

From there, head East and base out of Kerrville; Bandera on a weekend when the Cowboy show is going on, F’burg is an hour, so is San Antonio.

Leaving Kerrville, do the Alamo and Missions in a day, then drive the 3 hrs to Port Aransas instead of Corpus. It’s the same brown water, but nicer beaches because you head south on the National Seashore and not see a soul.

Then, it’s Port A - Lubbock in a day, check out Palo Duro Canyon, (go for the show) then spend the night in Amarillo. From the it’s 40W back home.

In Amarillo, skip the Big Tex steakhouse - pure tourist trap.

Make sure you realize how many driving hours are in each of the days above. You may not have very much time for sightseeing given the time spent getting from point A to point B.

Corpus Christi - City Diner (downtown). Old diner with great old style seafood.
San Antonio - El Chaparral (north side and original in Helotes) has excellent fajitas and incredible refried beans.

Hey Bud, it looks like the Texas guys here have you covered on what to do here. As far as AZ. just to let you know in Aqua Caliente to Gila Bend, lots of drugs coming through. Lots of aliens also. There is always battles there between the two and lots of bodies are being found with gunshots to the head and some even being beheaded. You won't find any of that in the papers. The area near Tombstone is a funny place. You have lots of different groups settled all around that area. Groups from extreme anti government nut jobs, groups that still believe we belong to England, muslim camps and arian groups. That place is pretty interesting so stay armed and stay alert. Other than that, it's nice country to see. A couple of good places to eat in Tombstone but its been a while so I can't remember the names sorry.
