CORPUS CHRISTI - Some of the people who shopped at the HEB in Moore Plaza Friday were surprised to find report cards on the windshields of their vehicles.
The cards were courtesy of members of the police department's auto theft task force who were prowling the parking lot looking for vehicles that had purses and other items in plain sight just begging to be ripped off.
It was a pro-active effort to raise public awareness about auto thefts and auto burglaries before the start of the holiday shopping season.
"We just want to make people more aware of what they're doing. We all sometimes get complacent because we haven't been the victim of a crime or we haven't had anything happen to us," CCPD Lt. LAuren White said.
