    I believe the point is control of the land use. The more land they own, the more they control. Perhaps the decide to just not plant a crop? Maybe allow a tragedy to occur and lose an entire crop (wire, etc.). The point is the US no longer controls that land. That, to me, is the real issue.

    I understood the original point.

    They will never control enough crop land to make a material difference. We have much bigger Chinese threats to worry about.

    They already bought Smithfield - the pork producer. I wonder how much pork was being exported before things got bad here?

    A lot of pork was exported to China before they bought Smithfield, from 100,000 to 200,000 tons typically.

    Since mid-2019, China has been more aggressively importing US pork due their herds being thinned by African swine fever (ASF).
