Very cool. I see you got a C5 bell housing. You didn't have to swap the tranny? What trans comes in those from factory? I'll spare you any LS comments. I'm sure you have already had a few.

Haha I always get the ls comment. I want an LS but I couldn’t justify it with having the LT already.

No tranny swap- the 944 is a rear trans. Just a torque tube from the housing to the transaxle

What kind of power can the trans and rear hold, you going to be in danger of breaking stuff?

IIRC the turbo and non used the same tranny...300 hp stock and a ton of torque. Plus guys upped the boost.

I’d imagine it would hold up to an LT

With the reading I’ve done I think I’ll be safe. I’ve also been told a couple times that the 944 trans is a beast and should be good up to 450-500 hp... people do recommend the 944 turbo s Trans for this application over the 944n/a since it is a bit stronger apparently. I also think the turbo trans is limited slip. I haven’t dug into this enough to know if the n/a is limited. They aren’t horribly expensive or difficult to replace so if I destroy it, then so be it.

That is correct. You should be fine with the earlier NA tranny as long as you aren't launching from a dig.

If you're on facebook, check out the 944outlaws group. Lots of support for this sort of thing on there.
