Not sure I understand your question. What specifically are you looking for in the physician?
I don't normally care what a doctor's political stance is as long as he is competent to solve my medical problem. Plus it is hard to know their political leaning. It's not like I chat about elections with them. They are busy as it is.

    What part of metromess

Looking in Dallas, but willing to drive.

Looking for a new PCP since my old one moved out of state. Mainly looking for a physician who is gun friendly. I can conceal carry at the doctors office, no 30.07 or 30.06 signs. And a doctor who is not going to ask if I have guns at home.

    Oldag,

I don't insult food servers, especially before they bring me my food...nor would be I tempted to say 'none of your business' (ok, ok, I'd be tempted) but I wouldn't do it.

I might ask how the question is germane to my medical status, but most likely would just say 'no' and that'd be the end of it.

There's no law broken if I say 'no', a galling question, yes, but that's it.

I don't think this question is asked very often in Texas and believe me, over the years I've been to a ton of em...

Here is the problem for you, many of the best physicians work in offices owned by a hospital and are posted even though the doctor is pro-2A. All of the electronic records have the gun question and the doc has to check something in the box. Just say NA and let it slide. This is just one of those situations where you may have to leave it in the car if you want a quality doc. Very few primary care nowadays left that have their own independent office.

I don't know if he is gun friendly but Dr. Wilson on north Collins in Richardson is in a private office. Not my PC but my friend uses him and he even tracks his patients through specialists.

I’ve been asked twice. You can mark that “declined to answer.”

My doc doesn't serve food. ;)

And if the doc was offended with my answer, I would be finding a new doc.

I will smile when I say it, does that count?

Okay, I must have missed a few years of socialistic oppression by these "smart" people who call themselves paradoxically "democrats".
But since when do doctors ask about people's private possessions?
I have never been asked "how many TVs do you have?" or "how many guns do you have?"
If so, I would have replied "why, is your broke drug-addict cousin looking for someone to burglarize?" and I'd find a new doctor.
I say this only partially in jest.

Actually, is this maybe supposed to lead to a joke? Like "My doctor asked me if I have guns. I nodded. Now he won't stop calling me asking where he can find ammo"? :D

I live in Frisco, 26 miles due N. of Dallas. All 13 of my Drs. are in the Baylor Scott and White system. Most Drs in the Baylor system are really good Drs. I've been in 3 Baylor hospitals all awesome! NO ONE has EVER asked about my guns! I don't carry when I'm going because I don't want to take my guns off and lay them down! Best wishes in your search! Btw, the Baylor HQs are in Dallas.

I don't know for sure but Dr. Wilson on N. Collins in Richardson is cool. Don't know his stance but his office is not in a medical plaza. Not my doc but a buddy uses him.

As for the signs, look for different entrances. One of my Drs was at a plaza attached to a hospital. One door had the signs. One door 20 ft away didnt. Both were same Lobby but one was closer to the hospital side.

That's the one place I off body carried for obvious reasons.

I never entered the hospital, obviously.

    It's all stupid.

Wait, what?? Going to a doctors office they ask if you have guns? What does that have to do with medicine? They going to ask the brand of stereo equipment you have also?

It’s not a reflection of your doctors. The electronic medical records have it as a check box. Just say NA.

Pretty sure this is an attempt to gain info for red flag laws. Got guns? Depressed? Go git them thar guns boys......

I'm certain there is another lengthy thread about this where the motivation behind it was discussed in detail.
