I propose a life sentence for any member of any law enforcement or alphabet agency using these any time they are not blatantly needed.

Sure. Now legally define "blatantly" to a standard prosecutors and juries can use to convict.

    Oh, and read TFA:

"The legislation would make it a felony carrying up to 20 years in prison for committing a crime using an unmanned aircraft equipped with a deadly weapon, and up to 10 years in prison for other crimes with a drone.

Police could operate drones, but only for legitimate law enforcement purposes. Officers would have to get warrants, unless there’s an emergency."

Ummm. Where is the "Shooting a Drone"? part. And where is the airspace owned by the state?

Yeah. The article sounds like it means jailtime for someone using a drone to shoot something. Title of thread sounds like shooting down a drone will get you jailtime. Misleading title thread bro!

just out of curiosity, what's the cargo capacity from a drone?? say like the one pictured in the article. I can see dropping a grenade, or other IED but not capable of holding a serious caliber fire arm. between payload weight and recoil, not that somebody won't try it.

Hooking a gun up to a drone would require electronic/mechanical means to pull the trigger/fire a cartridge. This is considered manufacturing a machine gun, which is already illegal for nearly everyone.

    Pointless, redundant legislation.

I'm pretty sure if an average joe is able to shoot down a drone with a small arm, then that person deserves some kind of prize, not jail time lol.
