There are fewer ways that are more accessible or less expensive to the average homeowner for small point of application heat sources.

For temporary need of a heat source, I agree. I did use them for a heat source on the coldest winter days to heat up the outside dog's sleeping area. I switched over to infrared bulbs a few years ago.

they are still incandescent bulbs on an a19 base. Just have a reddish film applied over the glass.
