Wonder if it has any weight in court or even a a deterrent? Wouldn't take much to get some deep purple paint, coat some metal bars 1.5 inches wide and 12 inches tall and bolt them to your fence.

Just wish I had trees to paint, the dang grease wood isn't tall enough and driving in those fence posts just to paint them purple is about impossible in this rock out here...

Why would you do this, you could just paint the fence, unless of course you are talking about a chain link fence or something, lol....

Hm. Raised in the country, and my mother's entire family is hillbillies all the way back to the 1700s, and they've been in Texas since the 1840's. They're so hillbilly they didn't have running water until the 1950s.

I've never heard of this purple paint stripe law.

Sounds similar to me. Haven't heard of it either.

Some of us country raised boys moved to the suburbs with tall wooden fences and HOA's

I've known about the paint for a while, can't remember where I learned it.

Never knew it had to be a 1" stripe though. Most I've seen were a purple "bar" painted around a post.

Just read the posted law again. Missed the "not less than" the first time.

But yeah, the way I learned it was purple means stay out, course I was raised to know that a fence itself meant stay out and never came across the markings without a fence present.

Learned about purple paint riding motorcycles in the past 5-6yrs. Some public roads, even dirt trails that go through private property or easements. Purple paint indicates someone's property line, so don't trespass. My family were farmers so no fence lines or trees, just fields and dirt roads.

I am a country boy, and I only heard of it when I took the Hunter Safety Course with my two youngest. The youngest was 10 at the time, and CO requires you to take the course to hunt there, so I took it with them. It was one of the few things I learned in that course. (I was over 40 at the time)
